Monotypic. Plumage varies, breeding (SEP-FEB in females and SEP-MAR or SEP-JUN in males) and non-breeding otherwise. Sibley's only has male has identifiable between plumages. M/F differs, although in non-breeding M looks similar to F albeit with certain distinguishing features.
