Monotypic. Plumage varies, breeding (MAR-AUG) and non-breeding (SEPT-MAR). BOW notes the two plumages are similar with minor differences and fringing of non-breeding feathers results in bolder breeding plumage. M/F differs with F being paler/softer in color. Apparently F looks more like M as they age.
