Monotypic. Plumage varies, with breeding (spring/summer) male boldly streaked on belly and female lightly streaked (along with eye masks and supercilium). Non-breeding male looks similar to breeding female (but with thicker streaks and no eye mask) and female looks more plain, less treaking throughout. M/F differ, (see above).
